Damon (of The Changelings) invited me to hear him play at a Katrina benefit. The set was more about his wife, Diana Obscura this go-round. Still lovely, ethereal, and moving. I also got to hold their new child! And was invited to become an Atlanta Roller Girl….I sense a new 43rd Thing coming on! This link is to a new song Damon has written: http://www.thehollowhill.net/Oh_Death.mp3

Bought replacement feathers for the fishing pole toy for Vixen. Even though they only came in pink he does not seem to feel emmasculated. If he has any twinges he makes up for them in chasing and biting Zoe and Zabu in the ass. Zoe is still my bedtime buddy, more so since Saturdays annual ritual of putting the electric blanket on the bed. She and Vixen love to suckle it, she climbs under the covers with me. Sinjyn has separated even more from the pack but his given up his couch-top perch to settle into my lap wherever I am. He tolerates my constant combing at his dandruff as he understands my frustrated maternal instincts and quick-time biological clock. Zabu still prefers to sit on Mr. Complicated’s head. Some people just deserve a paw in the ear while they are sleeping!
Now I am planning this trip solo. Mr. Complicated has decedided to spend the weekend before my birthday in Amsterdam. He could not understand why I didn’t want to spend approx. $1000 to watch him smoke pot legally with his friends and to adittionally watch him fall asleep at all times of day and night all over the aforementioned foreign city. My Adventuresome Friend is involved with all manner of other plans of the in-law variety not only that weekend but apparently every weekend from now until January. I decided that this now sounds like a grand opportunity to make the 3-ish hour drive and not only can I take in the horseback tour but its candlelight tour time as well! So my 1st step? An online reservation at the Biltmore Inn for 1 night plus the tour. Friday – full, Saturday – full…ahhh Sunday…1 night in the Inn and a tour….$420!!!!! ACCKKK!!!! I think this calls for achange of plan. I could make it aday trip with a lot of driving but I think it might still be off-season in nearby Maggie Valley (ski area). I will look for aMicrotel Inn or a LaQuinta (my favorites) and throw in a little local shopping. After all, I won’t have to keep up with anyone elses schedule of patience for my interests! Note: After deciding on this Mr. Complicated volunteers to go on this trip with me the weekend after my birthday, thus securing a 2nd vacation for himself while neatly chalking the tour up as my “birthday present”. I don’t think so. For my last birthday he took me, and 3 friends of “ours” (read “his”) out to dinner at Trader Vic’s. This year whatever I get I want it to be for me, where is the present in taking others out to dinner? I will be proactive this year and have what I want for myself! On a horse! (note to Kristine: theres a ‘horse you rode in on’ joke in here somewhere!)
