I can’t believe I started, finished, and did pretty well in the Seattle marathon. It was a great day, sunny, and cool, mid 40’s. I rode my bike from the car, and had a heavy down jacket to keep out the chill. I never felt cold, as once the race was going, I was perfectly comfortable. I had my watch on to measure each mile. As we continued, I felt really relaxed, but the miles were ticking off at under 8 minutes, and I was allowing for 8:30 to finish at 3:45. Well only the last few miles were hard, and came in at 8:45-50. There was one uphill mile that came in at over 9 minutes. I couldn’t believe that I finished strong, and crossed at 3:32 something, a full 13 minutes ahead of my goal. I got home, and my family was gone. I had hoped to see them along the course, but they were at the finish line about 10 minutes after I’d left. Melanie didn’t have her phone, and called me with a borrowed cell number. I missed having them there, but was happy they’d tried. I loved doing it, but don’t envision having/making the time to do it again, as it takes an enormous amount of time.

How I did it: Just signed up at the SCUBA center in Minneapolis, bought the mask, fins and snorkel, studied the book and DVD, went to the three day course, did the pool portion and now need the open water training to get PADI certified. We had a fun instructor. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I bought tickets online, went to Vancouver, endured two hours of customs line each way, got rained on on the walk from the Four Seasons, but was worth every penny! Read how I did it…
How I did it: Just went in and signed up. Yoga is, of course, a practice, not something you accomplish. My goal was just to start. It is an amazing thing, and I feel so great after doing it. I have had some amazing releases of emotion through it, and am learning to breath, and adopt yoga as a way of life. You're never done though. Read how I did it…

On U2’s last tour, Keane was opening for them at Madison Square garden, tickets were over $2000 each, but I wished I’d done it. Next time I’m going
I’m turning 42 this Sunday, and next Sunday is the Marathon. I’ve trained fairly hard for it, and have a goal of finishing in 3:45, or about 8:30 miles. I’ve run as much as 20 miles as part of the training. I’ve run 330 miles since August 20 to November 15. It’s raining like crazy now, and I hope it’s not raining on race day. I’ll do it no matter what. It feels great.
