I’ve been working toward eating better, exercising, and enjoying life to the fullest. I started on January 1, 2006, and now, six months later, I am amazed by how different I feel.
I’ve lost 25 lbs. I have so much more energy. I don’t like sitting around and wasting the day away anymore. I look better (especially since I’m losing weight). Even my outlook on life has improved.
Recently, during a trip to the hospital for surgery (tubal ligation), the nurse was impressed by my stats (e.g. blood pressure, pulse, oxygen levels, etc.) and immediately said, “You must be an athlete or something. Your numbers are great.” I was so happy that my efforts to improve my health have not only made me feel better, but my progress also shows up in tests.

When I first decided to start running, I could only run for 10 seconds. (That is not an exageration. 10 seconds was it. I timed it!) I realized that if there was an emergency, I wouldn’t be able to run to safety or to run to help anyone (even my kids), so I needed to improve, and I needed to do it now.
I’ve been making progress, and now I can run for 5 minutes. I know it’s not an impressive length of time, but for me it’s a huge improvement. I know I’ll be running that 5k in no time.

I started trying to lose weight on January 1, 2006. Six months later, I’ve lost 25 lbs. I’m losing it slowly because that’s the healthiest way to do it, but it’s actually been quite easy to drop the pounds just by making a few changes to my lifestyle (e.g. eating more fiber and walking every day).
