love my fat body
Tips! 22 months ago

I’ve gone through such a change this year, learning to love my body! Here are some tips to help everybody out:

-Read books! I loved “Fat Girl’s Guide to Life”. It’s funny and covers a lot of material. Very inspirational, but not in the sappy “you go for it, girl!” way.

-Buy clothes! Not until you lose weight, not until you feel more comfortable in your own skin, not until you have someplace to go! Live in the now! Your body is beautiful and deserves to be dressed right. Try Torrid, Avenue or Lane Bryant.

-Take photos of yourself! I don’t know about you, but I spent a lot of time telling people not to take photos of me. You’re fat, that doesn’t mean you’re ugly! If there are parts of your body you’re uncomfortable with, than wear flattering clothes (see above) and learn to model correctly. Trial and error is the best way to go with this.

-Try looking around for fat support groups. There might be a local group or try something online like fatshionista.

-Watch the ‘fat rant’ video! Go to youtube.com and search ‘fat rant’.

-Go to a nice plus-sized store and buy some great panties and bras. It sounds ridiculous, but when you’re having a bad self-esteem day it does a lot to be wearing fantastic underthings. Also these support garments do a lot for your shape no matter what.

-Most importantly, end negative thought processes. Don’t think for a second that you’re too fat to do something; how silly is that? Don’t worry about what other people think. Besides, half the time people are so caught up in their own business that they won’t even notice. Never tell yourself you aren’t good enough/pretty enough/thin enough to do something.

excersize daily
Hooray! 22 months ago

I’ve met my goal! Here are my tips that really helped me:

1. Even if it’s only 5 minutes, the point is to get in the habit! Whether you’re sick, tired or forget until the last minute- you have to do it! One push up is better than zero.

2. Pick a form of exercise that you enjoy and will keep you interested. Or do what I did and mix it up. I did yoga some days, went to the gym and did weights other days- and sometimes I’d go for a walk and just run.

3. If you don’t like to exercise, distract yourself! Some days I’d turn on VH1 and sit on the floor on my yoga mat doing more intensive poses. It also helps so that you don’t munch on food while watching TV.

4. Don’t bother telling anyone. I read all over the internet and in magazines that to keep yourself doing something, tell the people around you so that you feel embarassed if you don’t. However, I’ve done this before and to be frank- people don’t care. All it’s done is discourage me because I realize how much I’m not going to be embarassed if I fail!

5. Last but not least, have fun with it. Exercise isn’t miserable, and it’s not only going to the gym. It can be hiking, cleaning, dancing or running up stairs at the mall. Excercise isn’t a four letter word!

get an A in my class
Nightmare! 22 months ago

I thought for sure I was going to blow my GPA this semester with a B in one of my classes. Even though I’d done all of the work, I didn’t test very well on his quizzes.

But I kept on doing the work even though I knew I was going to get a B until the end of the semester. When my grades came back I was SHOCKED to find out that I’d gotten an A! Hooray!
