Filling in the blanks on some recent days 2 years ago

Saw a concert with my 2 brothers, for my oldest brother’s birthday (Tesla at the Nokia Theater in Manhattan. Great show…beautiful theater!)

Took yet another great road trip (all of New England in one weekend!) and played some mini golf…got TWO hole-in-ones! in Wolfesboro, NH

Celebrated my 3rd wedding anniversary with my amazing husband

Read and discussed our most recent selection in Book Club (Scott Smith’s ‘The Ruins’)

Met some friends of my husband’s and ate some hummus and pita bread in Astoria, NY

Hung out with some good friends and had a lot of laughs

Saturday morning, taking it easy: catching up on some magazines, spending time with my husband and our dog, and filling in the blanks on my blogs!

Write more
Hey, i'm writing already! 2 years ago

I make a living as an editor, so on any given day of the week I’m often reading the written (or typed) word more than I’m writing anything of my own.

And you know what i’ve noticed? If I got an entire weekend, or just a few days, without really writing anything down (with a pen and paper…remember what those tools are??!) like in a checkbook, a shopping list, taking a note while checking my voicemail, etc. I find that the NEXT time I go to write something my handwriting regresses into that of a third grader who has just learned scripted writing for the first time! WHY IS THAT?! Is my 31 yr old mind turning that feeble already, that i’m starting to lose my acquired motor skills?
I seriously start to feel like the guy in “Flowers for Algernon” when he starts to realize that the mouse is losing its smarts (anyone else know what I mean?)

I suppose with the advent of the computer age, more and more people are just typing on computers. No longer typewriters or word processors. We’re conducting almost all of our business via the internet, sitting in front of keyboards and monitors for most of our days. George Orwell would be so proud!

So, today, I decree to make more of an effort to write:
A. ANYTHING, as long as it is printed/scripted/made by pen, ink, pencil, charcoal, crayon, blood. No medium is off limits!
B. Specifically, and additionally, I will try to write (or type) meaningful (at least to me), journal-esque daily entries here on this site, and probably on one of the other four friend networking sites I belong to) [sidenote, aren’t these networking sites starting to get a little repetitive and ridiculous? More on that in another one of my 43 things though!].

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go and draw on a wall :)
