saving money is really important. my goal is to maintain at least 3 to 6 months worth of my monthly salary in the bank to cover emergency expenses. like this one time i got suddenly hospitalized. i didnt have enough savings. it was a good thing my folks helped me pay the bills. otherwise, i’d be more sick thinking about how to pay the hospital bill, medicines and doctors’ fees. you’ll never know when an emergency expense will happen. say your car needs to get fixed suddenly or you need to fly somewhere coz a family member passed away or you need to get your plumbing fixed right away. these kinds of emergencies, small or big have to be in the budget somehow.

i’ve been working for quite some time now and my savings is one thing i’m not very proud of. not to mention unpaid bills that have passed their due dates several times. i’m so poor at budgeting. but this time around i want to be financially responsible. i have to learn how to be practical. learn to distinguish want from need. buy only the things that i need until such a time when i have more than enough savings to buy my wants without worrying about my budget.
this is a goal i really wanna reach. be financially independent from anyone. my parents, or any man for that matter. i dont want to depend on anyone but myself. i dont want to become like those women out there who are dependent on their men/husband/partner. i’m not a social-climbing gold-digger. i dont want to be like those women who marry for the money and become istantly rich because of it. if i want to buy diamonds, i’ll buy it with my own hard-earned money, if i want a BMW i’ll buy it from my own saving account, not from some big fish. i want to become rich on my own. not even depending on what i’ll inherit from my parents.
