I absolutely recommend doing this! Skydiving was one of the most amazing experiences, and I can’t wait to do it again. Actually, I kind of wish it had been longer and maybe a little “wilder.” I’m thinking that the next time, I might like to jump from even higher (I did about 13,000 feet). Maybe from the height where they require oxygen masks. =)
It’s such an incredible rush, and the experience of freefalling is incomparable. As soon as the parachute opens up, be prepared for this overwhelming sense of peace and clamness. Everything is so quiet and still and beautiful from so high up. And you have no window or other barrier keeping you from being surrounded by nothing but sky.
One last recommendation, if they sell a video, BUY IT. Especially if it’s your first time. You may not quite remember everything from the descent, because it all happens so quickly. And it’s great fun to be able to see your facial expressions and reactions. Plus, you can prove to family and friends that you really DID jump out of a plane. And they’ll all be amazed to watch.

Two days ago, I got to witness my first niece being born. After getting the phone call that my sister-in-law was in labor, I left work to go to the hospital. When they let me into the delivery room, I assumed it was because the baby was already there. But, my sister-in-law was actually in labor. She invited me to stay, and the doctor put me to work, helping hold her leg. About 20 minutes after I arrived, little Kayla’s head began to emerge. I didn’t see it from the doctor’s perspective, since I was standing at my sister-in-law’s side. But, I saw this really smooshed, kinda hairy thing poking out. I assumed it was the head, but I was amazed at how much the skull bones really overlapped each other. Soon, her head was fully out, and the doctor began sucking all the mec and fluids out of her nose and mouth (she was a week overdue, so she pooped in the womb). And then my sister-in-law pushed out the shoulders. Within 30 minutes of my arrival, my new niece, Kayla was born! It was such an amazing, and beautiful thing. And I am so blessed to have been able to witness it.

I knit a blanket for my niece (who was born two days ago). I’ve made lots of knitted items—including a larger blanket. But, this was my first baby blanket. And it was for a very special little person. I made a matching teddy bear to go with it.
