Ease into it. I suggest if you are just starting out to try hunting small game first. There are more chances of seeing a squirrel or rabbit than a deer. Also, you don’t have to be in the woods at dawn. You typically use a less expensive gun, 22 or a shotgun. They are easier to clean and carry out of the woods. And yes, you can eat squirrel. Cook like a chicken thigh. They are good. They if you like it, try deer or turkey or other more difficult and complicated game. For me it’s all about trying to get in tune with nature. Listening to the woods. Relaxing so you notice what is going on around you. Can be good therapy.

It’s great to just be outside removed from your usual surroundings. I went a lot when i was a kid in the boy scouts. Fun to find new places and try out gear. Campfires are cool. I’m going to start taking the kids when they get old enough.
I want to get to 10%. Learning nutritional timing, eating every 2 hours. I actually eat more than 3000 calories, but eat about 8 mini-meals. I also do at least 30 minutes a day of cardio or weight lifting.
