Well, it has been a full week since I have embarked on my arduous journey to the elusive 5K. Elusive because at this juncture I can not fully gasp the attainment of such an elephantine task.
I set off yesterday evening on my third attempt of the week. My friend suggested that I just walk for a couple weeks after my first wretched attempt. I decided that was not going to work for me, so I am making my own plan (this is not a surprising declaration for anyone that has witnessed me order at a restaurant). I needed more motivation than walking would afford me.
I am amazed at the intelligence of Athena my dog,
I have learned I am unable to verbalize the word walk
in any manner that is acceptable to Athena without being incensantly annoyed to take her for one. Once she is aware
of the shoes that I put on Athena begins to jump and search
the house for her leash which she promptly brings to me
and lays at my feet. Anyway, I digress….. I begin my walk
with a 5-10 min. brisk walk/warm-up, I then alternate
between 30 sec. of running and 90 seconds or so of walking.
This seems to be more satisfactory to my body, although after
about 10 min. of movements my left shin begins to shoot pain
up my leg and my right hip/lower lumbar region aches and
begins to shoot pains down my right leg. After 20 min my
right shin begins to add to the agony I am sustaining…..Ugh
will I ever not feel the intensity of pain that is imposing itself on me. The moment I enter my home, I reach for the ice and
begin the process of cooling off the mussels, ligament and
nerves that pain me…....Although I must own that my dog
is more out of shape than I, in the beginning, she pulls me
and at the end I her.
This my friends is a faithful narrative of my so far tragic journey. I will keep you updated on any new developments.
