I think I could be pretty happy owning Madison Park (Seattle) hardware store. Or, the hardware store in Friday Harbor, in the San Juan Islands. Or one similar. I have happy memories of the hardware store in Shoemakersville, near where I grew up. It was a True Value (Kuzan’s) store. They gave kids a stick of Juicy Fruit chewing gum at the checkout register.

How I did it: I woke up and felt like crud. So, I opened up the laptop and e-mailed the team, telling them how I felt. I also told them that I would not be visiting the office or occupying my chair for the day. I also told them that they could e-mail or IM me, and maybe I'd reply. Or, maybe not. I’m not sure what’s different this time, but I’ve really been able to keep the weight off. I never actually got to my goal of 179, but I’ve been really happy staying in the 183-185 range without really starving myself or anything crazy like that. Just a combination of exercise 4-5 times a week, a not-too-crazy diet and probably a bit too much coffee (maybe that accelerates my metabolism, helping with calorie burning?)—seems to be doing the trick.
