I am 19 years old. Living in Cleveland, one of the most impovirished cities in America. I look around my city and I can only help but be overwhelmed by the vast amounts of problems this city faces. Not being ignorant, I realize that Cleveland compared to 80% of the world is a rather desirable place to live, we have electricity, clean running water, food, low income housing and all the essentials a city in the United States has. For the past 4 to 5 years I have been passionate about ‘making the world a better place’ but my efforts are not tangable they are not evident and it is getting rather frustating. Last year I was deemed “Peacemaker Of the Year” a title I was honored to receive however I feel that if I am the most peaceful person in the state of Ohio, the state of Ohio has alot more issues it needs to look at. Cleveland, Ohio, the United States, North America, Africa, Eurpope, Asia, South America, they all need help. I want to help. I want to do what I can to change the world for the better. It has been said that each person is born with a life goal. Something that they need to achieve in order to fulfill their lives. I say completely seriously that my goal in life is to change the world. I dont know how im going to do this, I dont know with whom im going to do it with but i know i will. I am enrolled in college and have vocalized my frustration time and time again with my very supporing parents how i feel like im wasting my life away studying math, and science, subjects i feel i will never need in my persutes to change the world. I need compassion, i need passion. I need support and most of all I need direction. I want to know who to talk to when to talk to them and everything i need to know on how to change the world. I want my efforts to trump that of Ghandi and MLK. I dont want it to be about me. Sure they are my dreams but i feel it is the dream of humanity, to live in a place that us just, a place where you dont have to worry about wars or poverty famine or disease. I realize there are no easy answers for a task this massive. I know it isnt something that can get done over night. I have planted seeds and will continue to. My only fear is that my seeds will parish and that the fruit that the world need will never fully prosper. Please anyone. help me. We are the people who will change the world and it is no single persons efforts that will do this, we are standing up for humanity and all that is right, we must work together in order to achieve this goal that has been brushed off time and time again, generation after generation.
