Didn’t get the fork; I do need new back wheel. but then I would like to change the chain, cassette, both brakes, derailleurs. in any case, i’ve broken 3 spokes and counting
and it makes me immensely happy to be able to spend some time with my friend.
I connected the differential, the driveshaft to the motor and the cv axels. The new flex-disc did not fit the driveshaft; the center support bearing connection points did not match; and the driveshaft was too long. I will possibly replace a few parts and also re-engineer stuff so that it will fit together. FWIW I am using a 325i motor in a 325es car. deni’s play toys…
I started with the electrical. I installed the main original harness coming off of the motor, it connects the computer (w/ dinan chip) to the motor, fuel injectors, oxygen sensor, distributor, etc. – all on a long cable. It’s not the original one and I’ll continue with this. I also connected the incoming and outgoing water hoses to the firewall. Most likely continue with the cooling system then the transmission.
gotta get over there this year to check out the scene. three to four days should be ok to see what’s going on and maybe talk to a few people..
Car was wrecked 1-2 mos. ago, will need further repair. Everything is fixable, but the black car has priority. :(
Figured out that an account should be created specifically for the task of updating the server and basic content transfer, thereby I can redirect the home directory to where httpd.conf is located. next step is to create some data (content); configure apache and see how it looks, then get the machine to see my AD domain with SMB services.
Server: Ubuntu 8.10 (x86)
Machine name: ddtech-ts.ddtech.dom
I cleaned up my garage and made plenty of space; i need to do something with those extra front and rear seats, too much clutter.
I put black car on jackstands and moved the exhaust underneath for storage. Now there is space to work.
Next step is to install the drive shaft to the motor, then connect motor, then electrical, then smog test + reg.
Current status: Black 325es (bmw01) swapped with a 325i motor and a Dinan chip, motor needs to be connected; white 325i (bmw02), damaged in accident- will need a complete checkup on the front end, will “borrow” exhaust for black car, will need to check transmission for locating linkage damage, remove all front fenders, bumpers and replace.
after working briefly amongst some latinos, i feel that immersion is the best route for me. my hubris has taken a hit.
nothing like getting an internal ftp server working, in this case vsftp. i’m going this route instead of using smb (samba) to load the data for apache. i may turn on samba later.
since it was the easiest to do, i completed the main page (v0.1!), but have a long way to go implementing the back end. :)
Basic LAMP software installed. where to start, front end or back end…?
