i drove from california to mississippi stopping to see sites like the location of the Oklahoma City bombing memorial and stopping to see my dad then drove south to see my mom before arriving at my destination. the reason i moved to mississippi is to spend time with family before going to Africa in April as a Peace Corps volunteer.
I recommend a cross-coutry trip to everyone and can’t wait to see Africa!

i sold or donated almost all of my things to move from california back closer to home. all my furniture, at least half my clothes, little things, big things, investment pieces, etc… i mainly held on to memorabillia, journals, pictures, the most personal things i had. sitting in an empty apartment i have to admit i missed my stuff and realized i was more greedy than i thought. but now that i’m gone from california i must admit what i really miss is the friends and relationships i had and the pics and memorabillia help me remember those fun times and the reasons i loved those people and my stuff is just stuff… each day i forget about the posessions i had more and more. when comparing my couch to my friend i don’t even miss the couch at all. i realize now where i find love and comfort and smiles is much more in friends and memories. if i hadn’t let go of all my stuff i’d still be thinking i was finding comfort on my cozy furniture and may not ever realize the true comfort in picking up the phone and calling someone i love.
