I finally signed up for the course, after 2 classes my head is spinning! The writing on the handouts is way too small for me to make much sense of; I had to enlarge every page on a copy machine. The instructor is moving at a very fast pace. I can barely distinguish the sounds in the spoken part, and the little marks and letter connections in writing are bedeviling me. This, and I have a rough day job too. Knowing my learning style, I would do a lot better if I were in a calm place with native speakers.

Life beats us down. I get so sick of turning everywhere and hearing the same news stories of violence, fear and financial crises. This bombardment is depressing to me and sometimes threatens my childlike feelings of wonder. I have to counter these feelings by being around kids a lot (my job involves this!) and seeking out a combination of childhood memories and new experiences. For me, the old includes seeing the giant sequoias, dreaming on Hawaiian beaches, and oogling the Northern Lights. New experiences I am seeking include seeing endangered animals while they still are around, finding new natural wonders, and keeping my husband for another 32 years.
I have 2 guinea pigs and piggysit for friends often; I have a cat, a saltwater aquarium, and crabs. Love them all, and would have many, many more pets if I didn’t have to work. Would love to have a pair of rats, but my family can’t bear the thought of them.
