so i got the keys today, and it’s ours – we actually went over tonight, just for an hour or so, to kind of say hello to the apartment without our realtor, and to put some of our stuff there – so now it’s our apartment, that we purchased, that we have keys to, and inside it is two typewriters, toilet paper, and a couple of paintings. symbolic, yet meaningful! i’m so excited.

Tri-Berry Muffins – once again, Barefoot Contessa – while I was preparing these, I got the odd feeling that I had totally made them before and not accounted for them! No matter, they were delish both times.

i was reading my old entries about this – it’s amazing how my view of teaching has really shifted in the past three years. i just finished my second summer institute (science last year, writing this year) and i feel completely ready to jump into a classroom. very interesting.

And by third time, I mean third time in contract, not third offer – we just signed the papers a gorgeous two-bedroom in the mission, please please please let it all work out!

Lackluster blondies, from that “How to cook everything” Mark Bittman masterpiece that Stephen uses to cook every single thing in the universe – am I crazy? They were dull and too flat and just not that great, although they did all get eaten. Of course, Mike came over, so that has something to do with it.

so we’re going house hunting again this weekend, I think I bookmarked six open houses to go to, which is not crazy, really – it’s very possible that we’re all burned out now on the excitement of finding a great place and writing an offer, so hopefully we can just actually find something we love and it will work out without any shenanigans or broken hearts.

I just bought a ten session pass that expires in three months – that means ten yogas in the summer, doesn’t sound so hard, right?

All 1050 pages of it, and I was kind of dragging my feet through the second half until I realized that Don Quixote was about to be OVER and that I wouldn’t have it to read anymore, and it was really sad – I’m actually going to miss this book a lot. So now I’m reading the Nabokov lectures on Don Quixote that I’ve been holding onto for a few years now while I finished the book.

So fabulous, from the Pioneer Woman cooking website, the second version, not the first. It was a humongous hit.

In San Francisco.
Soon, like by the end of the week.
We’ve been in and out of contract twice in eight days, barf. The whole thing is getting TIRESOME.

Dude! Way to go, California Supreme Court! Two states down, forty-eight to go.

I am very pleased with my new system, in full rotation since the New Year – three nights of dancing a week, and one of yoga, or any iteration thereof. This way my exercise feels social and useful and fun, instead of four torturous nights watching lowest common denominator television at 24 hour fitness. Also, I can do a mean kick-ball-change, and my charleston is not half bad.

I would say that I’ve leanred to play mahjong – I am all pong pong pong, chow chow chow, and we’re playing usually about once a week, if none of us is too tired – SO FUN.

Ooooh, creepy, and weird, but terrific in a weird way – the way the Italians in this play treat the Jew is the same way people in high school treat that unpopular freakazoid. However, there are some of the most tender love scenes I’ve read yet in here.

again, from the Barefoot Contessa cookbook (which, so far, has not led me astray) – nectarine and blueberry crumbles for dinner with Mike and Amber – so fabulously delicious, yum yum yum.

Last night I had our friends Mike and Amber over – now Amber and Stephen both know how to play, so we can play as a foursome, which is awesome. I’m thrilled. I’ve been playing online all morning, which was fun, except when I got yelled at by some crazy person.

I had the most awesome time, it was six of us at an early-closing Starbucks on a Monday afternoon, and we had a blast! I brought two of my friends, one who knew how to play and one who didn’t, and I want to play every night now. SO FUN.

So, I have found myself a mahjong group! I’m going to meet with them to play on Monday, and I’m super excited. I’ve been playing online and even though I’ve been kicked out of several yahoo game rooms, I think I have it figured out now and am no longer a mahjong menace.
Wish me luck!

I want to take these with everyone – I have some with certain friends, some from college, even one from when I was a little kid, and I cherish them, I really do. I’m going to hunt them down!

I don’t think I want one in my house anymore – why would I want to spend the money when I can go hunting for them all over SF and wherever else I am? I’m changing this goal.
