Hey everybody. I am from São Paulo, Brazil. It’s nice to see some people working hard to learn portuguese. I sincerely would like to help you with that. If you want someone to talk to, or to correct some texts or anything else, you can count on me!
My skype name is: diego.matheus.martins (Taboão da Serra/SP – Brazil)
@ginsengtiger. The use of the ‘m’ sound is definitly not superfluous. It may be confusing sometimes when we speak. There is just a little difference between “compraram” e “comprarão”, for example (which in this case are our “totally unpredictable vowels” hehe, I agree with that). But, for this reason, this ‘m’ at the end of the word is necessary for the understanding of the written language. That is one of the practical reasons. There must be some others.
Somebody asked “I speak Spanish, does it helps?”. Yes, I believe it does, there are lots of things in common between these two languages.
My advice for you is: don’t be proud. It’s just alright if you make some mistakes. That’s the way we improve when we get to learn new languages.
You all have my Skype name. If you wanna talk or anything, I’d be really glad to help!
See you all!
Diego
