I finally bought myself a sewing machine (I have wanted one since I was 15 yrs old..so 17 years now I have waited!).
I have already put a few miles on the Kenmore, making 4 jointed dolls and many outfits for them, several small art dolls, a dress, curtains, and plans to make several more of the above projects in addition to tote bags, purses and home decor.
I LOVE sewing!

How I did it: I had to buy a new computer when the old one just died.I lost everything.Fortunately I had saved some important photographs online, and many files were in my gmail account.I had just begun using Foxmarks, a mozilla firefox add-on which keeps track of all of your bookmarks so you can access them from ANY computer. This was especially handy as I have my whole world in my bookmarks folders. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I contacted several textile artists and put the word out that I was looking for people interested in contributing an 8x10 quilt square to be used in an art quilt for charity. The theme of the quilt is "gypsy".It is a work in progress, but the response has been wonderful. How I did it: It took 14 hrs from start to finish to make my first custom plush doll. I was just getting to know my new sewing machine, and I had not sewn a stitch since 9th grade (17 yrs ago or so).The end result was totally worth it!I now make custom dolls for friends, family and customers, and will have a shop opening on etsy.com in the new year. I joined Craftster.org, a forum of wonderful & creative people, in March of this year.
I was inspired by all of their beautiful creations, but mostly I knew I HAD to have a poppet. A poppet is the brainchild of one of the members, ghilie. It is a 13 inch fully jointed stuffed doll. They are just adorable, and the options for customizing are endless!
She sent me the pattern, and I have since made 4 of them, including an earth goddess (Zola), a sky fairy (Lahni), as well as ooak custom dolls of Manny Ramirez and Alice Cooper. I am now making them on commission for friends and family. They are a joy to make.
I have tried my hand at making a few different kinds of jewellery – polymer clay charms, semi-precious stone pendants & earrings, etc.
I had such fun learning to make these simple and pretty glass bead bangles.
