Although I’ve read it takes, on average, six to nine years for a person to become fluent in a language, I’m trying my best.
It definitely helps to live in the country, to be surrounded by your lingual obsession. To think in the language, to the point where you wish that those every day phrases had the same power in your mother tongue.
Language is a lifelong process. I don’t think I’ll ever be done. I just never want my language skills to diminish.

Totally worth doing every single day. I never want it to be over, I never want to “be done” with experiencing love. Never lose hope, there’s love to experience in every waking moment.

Living in another country, with little contacts, it’s not hard to do. I just left the house, didn’t touch my computer, didn’t “plug in” and spent it shopping and doing all the things I’ve discovered I love doing alone.
Things great to do in secret
-people watching
-eavesdropping (I use it as a learning another language opportunity)
-walking in the rain
-eat tons of free samples
-check other people out, blatantly
-write in a journal
-write poems about the present moment, literally
-wear sunglasses when it’s overcast
-check your neighbor’s mail
etc.
Just don’t spend it at home. That’s just called lazy.
