Not gonna check this off, as it’s a process, but I’m getting there. I finally realized that the world’s happiness doesn’t depend on me, and that I’m not going to seriously change other’s opinions of me by worrying about it. It’s helping me be more at peace, which makes me want to keep at it.

I’ve wanted to “learn Blender” since I first saw it years ago. I’ve bought (and occasionally read) books, watched videos, tortured myself with how bad I am at it, and given up, several times. Finally, I’ve changed my mind. I don’t want to “learn Blender”, I want to “play with Blender”. Just dink around, do little projects, figure out little techniques, not worry about “becoming a master” or anything like that. I think it’s much more sane for me, and how I approach things like this, especially something so huge and open-ended like art.
I’m also realizing that, unlike programming (which I do fairly well, professionally), that are quite mental, that you can sit down and learn first, artistic things seem (for me at least) to be much more like riding a bicycle: silly to sit and read about, you learn it by doing. Sure, read a book to learn what key to press, but I gotta spend vastly more time actually doing the thing than reading about it, for it to make any sense.
Anyway, . Gonna go blend…
Went on a couple of short out-and-back’s with my kids while we were on a cruise recently. Not gonna try to make myself an expert at it, but it was certainly fun.
