1. Went to Santa Cruz, CA with my daughter and her boyfriend last Monday. Santa Cruz went all out and gave me the best day of the year. Did it all, beaches (2), walk in the redwoods, dinner at my favorite burrito bar, walk through downtown. Reminiscing from teenage years on. A great visit back.
2. Safe and uneventful trip home back to Utah. I finally feel, after 6 years that Utah is home.
3. Amazing thunder and lightening storm on Friday. Seem to be getting a lot of them this year, both in CA and UT.
4. My garden is producing prolifically. Wonderful to be able to walk out and get what I want for dinner. Don’t know how much longer that will be the case, but I’ll enjoy it while I can.
5. Feeling settled and happy where I am.

How I did it: I figured out, half way through the goal, that given my schedule and my need to do other things in November, that this is not a good goal for me during that month. But the process proved to me that I am capable of doing that much writing. Working at the same time as others also contributed to my success. So if you want a good kick in the pants for starting a novel, this is a great place to start. Read how I did it…
How I did it: Did I finish this goal? Technically yes. There were many miles that I didn't record because I was doing them everyday, Sunday walks back and forth to church for months, that was 2 miles each time. Walking to the store, the bank, and the library at every chance, easy because we were 1 -3 miles away from each in a very central location. But I originally wanted the goal to be only planned hikes. When the weather got cold, wet, and dark, thos… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I read his 43things entries, searching to find a gift that would be meaningful to him. I decided to paint him a picture. I haven't painted a picture per se in ages, though I have painted signs, scenery, wall murals and others sorts of art images. I appreciate the chance I had to really paint him a picture. I hope that it was acceptable. Read how I did it…

All day long. I didn’t think about work, I thought about them. We played some games together, talked and had a great meal. I loved hearing them play the piano, from the 5 yo, up to the 13 yo. My grandkids were excited to see me and it felt good to see them. Being with them is always the best way to get to know them better. Communicating helps too. I set up a Skype account for them and showed them how to use it. I hope they do and a lot.
I’m trying to do too much. The next right thing is to narrow my life down and decide what specifically will bring me the quickest reaction. I think that doing, or trying to do too much is paralyzing. It’s not just taking in action, it’s sifting through actions and choosing to do what will make the most difference first.
