As a special education teacher, I and my students struggle with feeling successful in a social order that often casts out only those who have the advantages of interpreting and understanding the written word. I would love to open the gate for these kids and do it in such a way that it actually works, and consistently. I know it is hard work, but I also believe learning should be enjoyable. Anyone out there who has had lots of success in this area? I would like to know what has worked for your kids.

We assume that people close to us know that we love them. Well, they might, but why take the risk that they don’t. It is relatively easy to say “I love you” in a million and one ways. I think I’ll start today. I want my husband and children and grandchildren to know this first. Others are the people we know for a day, a year, or a lifetime that might never know unless we tell them. It doesn’t have to be a verbal message. A smile or word of encouragement, or just listening works well, too. How are you doing on this? I could do better.
It is all temporary-and moves too fast! Enjoy life because it will not be here forever. Praise your children, kiss your husband, call your friends. Pat the dog, and plant the garden. Read that book and call your sister. Take a walk in the sun or moonlight. Bless others by who you are.
