Ok, so originally, this final piece was supposed to complete the sleeve… but it didn’t and I love it!!!! The new artwork is fantastic and fits my arm perfectly. It does however leave the challenge of what to do with the rest of the arm… just another example of how life doesn’t fulfill goals in the expected manor! It has; in this case exceeded it though and I am now seeking the adventure that will encompass the rest of my right sleeve. Fucking EH!

I got the outlining and black/gray shading done on my right forearm, but just the outside, the underside still needs to be done. Basically, I’ve now got my left sleeve done and once the colouring is done on this new piece, will be 3/4 done my right arm.

I can’t say I’ve been good at tracking how many books I’ve read this year, but I’d say I’m off track… the plus side is that I’ve started a book/study group around the Personal MBA on Facebook that meets in real life to study and the first meeting held on Sept 27th went very well. In addition to that, my reading rate over the past couple of months has increased such that next year, I should surpass this goal, and hopefully every year after!

this is easily one of my largest goals, so to begin with, I’ve created a team on Kiva.org to let people help out with this goal.

If you’re not familiar with Kiva.org, I encourage you to check it out. If you like it, invite others by sending them to this page as well!

well, after a lot of driving around the back roads of Scotland, I tracked down the castle. It was tougher than I thought as it was down an unmarked road by the village of Dablair, which was unknown to people in Cumknock, a town only 7 miles away. Luckily I drove past a fellow walking his dog on a quiet road who knew exactly where it was… which meant I only got lost once more after speaking with him.
Finally, I pulled up to 3 houses and a shed and a dead end road. I spotted a fellow on a quad heading out to tend his sheep and I waved him down. He came over and I asked if he knew where Dablair was… the houses and shed was Dablair. I asked if he knew where the castle was and he pointed to a spot behind some trees… there it was! This fellow had history in the area and was able to tell me a bit about the Kyle clan, including that the original name was Coel (pronounced Coil). It would later take on a number of other spellings before settling on Kyle. One such spelling was Cole and an inhabitant of the castle was none other than Old King Cole (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_King_Cole) from the nursery rhyme of the same name.
Goal completed, and very much worth while!!

It was great. Up at 5AM and went to the gym, then home for a good breakfast before my hour long commute to work via train (i.e. got lots of reading in)... now, I work close to home and have a hard time getting up before 8!
It’s tough because the morning person me had a job that didn’t make my mind race or need overtime, and I hated it. Now I love my job, but it can keep me up late… I’ll figure it out yet though!

finished off the lower part of the sleeve now, and got a bit more on the upper. There’s still about 3 hours to go, but I had an afternoon apt and the shop was closing… on vacation for the rest of this month, so my left sleeve will have to be finished in Sept. (photo is of it in progress)

I’m going to be heading to Belgium in 5 days, followed by Amsterdam (another goal of mine), then some white water rafting in Austria. I’ll get all the way down to Venice before heading north to Paris, then London where I’m renting a motorcycle and riding into Scotland to find the castle!
The photo points to a town called Dablair… the castle should be walking distance from it! The other blue dot up and to the right is a town called Douglas… formerly of the province of Kyle… i.e. Douglas, Kyle!
Yeah yeah, I’m easy to please :)

5 days until I leave for Belgium, 7 until I get into Amsterdam! The coolest thing is that I’ll be heading over to Scotland afterwords… check out my other goals to see why that’s such a big deal!!

I’ve got my gym set up almost the way I want it, but I’ve been giving other areas priority and haven’t taken the time to do this yet. Things calm down a lot in Sept though (after I knock off two of my other goals, including find the family castle in Scotland and visit Amsterdam)!
