I bought a tin whistle (Penny whistle) at the Scottish Highland Games last Saturday and I’ve been playing. I can play the first part of “Aluette” I’ve practiced doing scales. I’m working on associating each sound with each note on a scale and also with which particular fingering. I have pretty controlled breath, but my fingering is slow.

How I did it: The paperwork was the hardest part. I went to the Study Abroad Office at my school, picked a program, and then started on the paperwork. You have to fill out applications, get refrences, have people write reference letters, you must write essays on why you should be accepted, etc. Then you must pack, get in contact with your program, etc. Read how I did it…
How I did it: This year (2009) was my first year doing NaNoWriMo. Novembers are always busy for me and so I had put it off for the past four years saying "I'll do it next year." Well, this year I was not about to let that happen! I started late and then skipped a week, but I made up for it in the end by writing 9K on the last Saturday, 6K on the last Sunday, and another 6K on Monday. Homework suffered, but it was worth it. … Read how I did it…
How I did it: I just read. Page by page. I had books written in French (mostly, they were translations from English into French). Just get in the groove and keep reading! Read how I did it…

I’m back in the States (and have been here for over a month) and now I am waiting for my grades. I know what they are, but nothing is official until the Registrar sends them into the Study Abroad Office.
I got a 100 dollar gift card and bought the Jane Austen novels that I did not already own: Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, Northanger Abbey, and Persuasion. I read Emma and Mansfield Park in high school, but I need to re-read them. I read Pride and Prejudice and Northanger Abbey last month. I think Mr. Tilney is my favorite of the Austen men.
