It has been a really busy summer-I can’t believe it is over. I had hoped to have the novel halfway done by now. But, rather than nit pick at myself, I can say that I did start a writers group and have completed, almost, 2 chapters with one chapter critiqued already. Not bad.

So I was on vacation and my eating went to hell! Going to join a local gym this week and take spin classes 2x per week and work with a trainer 1x per week.

We put down our deposit to trek Torres Del Paine next December. Can’t wait. I think it will be a great motivator to stay a non-smoker….with all the training I need to do, who has time to start smoking again!!!??? Would love to hear any advice from people who have been there?

Due to acne issues, the last think I have wanted to do it “join” Still keeping in touch with some of the people I met, but have been out of town/out of comission. I hope they don’t give up on me!

Ok, so I am 33 and have been battling acne most of my life and have tried everything from diet changes to every medication known to man. I did accutane in my early 20’s and that worked for the cystic like acne. All of a sudden, the acne has stared again. I have been hiding out at our cabin since Wednesday, too embarassed to go anywhere. My husband, who is out of town, thinks I am exxagrating, but seriously, the acne I have right now, especally the huge cystic one on the side of my nose is horrible. So, I go to the derm on Thursday and he gives me antibotics and a face cream. Not before he shoots up my face with corisone (I asked him to) to get rid of the cystic one faster. Today is Sunday, and I finally feel like I can leave the house. I have been spending 100’s of dollars on face creams, etc, and all he said I should use is soap and the perscrption he gave me. Anyway, I just want to look clear again and have my hopes in these meds.

Ok, so I need to talk my husband into doing this for August, he thinks we are not in good enough shape for it. I really want to do just the 3 day, easier Indian Garden Hike and feel like we would be fine. Thoughts?

We have made a goal to do Mt. St. Helens by the start of next summer. Not exactly Everett, but a start (and lots cheaper, too!)

I went mountain biking yesterday. Did a trail way to hard for my ability, crashed hard once. However, I did burn calories and feel a lot healthier. And have lost an inch around my waist over the last two weeks.

I got my haircolored on Friday. This is one way to make the growing out phase a little more bearable!

I think this will be an ongoing goal, but have found myself much more patient with him, which makes me nicer to him. This whole writing goals down really works.

I have written two textbooks. Not the same as a novel (another goal I have) but perhaps an easier sell :-)

Ok, so I don’t mean a huge mountain…I mean a smaller one, such as Mt. St. Helens to start out with.

I bought him toothpaste today. He mentioned he needed some a few days ago, and I just picked it up for him-one that he really likes. He is starting to appreciate these kinds of gestures and even commenting on it. I feel happy about this.

Ok, so I am not 125 yet. But, I feel heathyier. I am taking vitis and exercising daily. Although it may not show in my weight, it shows in the way I feel. I am going to increase my exercise and try not to make eating such a focus on my life.

I am trying, so is he. I feel like I can tell him what I feel without him being so defensive, as he used to be. I am working on not being as moody….I though 7 months of not smoking would make the cravings go away, but they still haven’t, at least not 100%. Progress. Slow, but progress.

Ok, so I have been Dr. Joiner these last two weeks with a full schedule. I love it. Craig’s list (stictly platonic) is a great resource, so is meetup.com. Getting out more feels good.

So I started an outline today and made an appointment to talk with a novel writer “expert” to help me do some exercises that hopefully will help me get started. How exciting!

I just read the book “You: on a diet” It gave me a whole new way of thinking about the way I have lost weight in the past. I am not going to follow the plan in the book, but will continue doing the following:
—No mindless eating
—No emotional eating
—Don’t subsitute food for friends
—walk at least 30 minutes everyday (or elipitical), but try to get a varied workout.
