I'm No Writer
I originally wanted to become a writer when I was young. Sometime during high school I began to realize that I wasn’t really passionate about it so I gave it up.
I graduated college and am preparing for graduate school. At this point, I’ve found my calling in life and it isn’t writing. However, I’m still in love with the idea and I do have something in me that I want to write out. I would really love to write a story about a woman who is like a bullet in the head. I’m not sure what that means, but it’s my starting point.

Almost There

There are two things I need to in order to move out. 1) Get a job/jobs that will pay well enough. 2)Work it out with my mom. Because the job thing is easier, I’ve been working on that first. I’m in the position of getting a job that will pay enough and is related to my interests. The community center I intern at is hoping to become an AmeriCorp site and hire me as an AmeriCorp person. The paperwork is getting turned in, after which we just need to hear the final okay from BayAc (the specific branch in our area). If that falls into place I’ll be set for the year I’m in AmeriCorp. It’s all a waiting game from here.
Convincing my mom it’ll be okay and that my boyfriend isn’t such a bad guy is the real challenge. But that’s for later.

My supervisor, being the giving person she is, has arranged things so that I can get paid full-time. Right now we’re working on setting ourselves up with AmeriCorps, which is an absolutely fabulous group. AmeriCorps members are paid for working with nonprofit organizations for a one year term. Americorps will fund around $13000/$14000 for living expenses (about $1200 a month), about $4000 for college or graduate school, and other benefits like medical and child care. The nonprofit must match the $13000.
AmeriCorps is a great way to gain experience and earn money for college at the same time. The grant also is motivating me towards going back for grad school.
The future is bright!
