Windows have been done.. before plasticking we use “fingertip caulk,” which is removable and seals around the edges of the windows to effectively keep drafts out. This already makes a huge difference in our old, drafty house.
Just need to figure out what to do about the uninsulated little room off the kitchen. Need to prevent drafts from coming through the door that leads to it.. hmm.

Woo-hoo.. 5.5 miles first thing in the morning! When everyone else is arriving cold and groggy, I’m warmed up and alert (thanks much to C making me take hot coffee and a half-decent breakfast). And I’ve never been a “morning person.” Its just starting to get cold and nasty now, and I know I’ll unabashedly wimp out a whole bunch this winter, but I plan to keep biking as much as possible to get acclimated, and perhaps invest in some better winter gear.. but that’s a whole other thing.
Our hall closet was clogged with unused remnants from former housemates and other, more ambiguous, sources. Not only did I get to feel good about getting the extra stuff (including several old winter coats in good condition without backs to cover) to a charity-run second hand store, and within 24 hours of the cleanout—a major feat for us!—but I unearthed some previously unknown rain gear for my-hard-to-clothe supertall roomie and other goodies as well. That and decades-old gold floral wallpaper. Can’t beat that with a stick.
