My partner and I have started a webpage to help raise money for Charity: Water. I have decided that this will be my charitable cause and my race with be called the Running Water 5K! It may take some time, but I will research and do it to the best of my ability. I will keep my expectations reasonable and be gentle with myself during the process. I don’t want to stress out about helping others. In 2009 I want to do more for others than myself. Until the race, feel free to check out our website and donate if you can.
Our website is www.charitywater.org/pages/marissatarapace/
Thanks

It has happened. I finished in 2nd place in the 35-39 year olds in a Snoball 5K race today. It was so cool. I had no idea I would have finished that high up. Granted the runner size was nothing like the Boston Marathon, but who cares. I DID IT! This feeling is amazing. I did not think it was possible to be successful in running at my age or level. I am sooo happy!

I have started my road racing career this past year and have gone from being 60 pounds overweight and barely completing a mile in 13 minutes…to running in races and now finishing miles in under 8:30. My struggle has been to place in the top three for my age group, it doesn’t seem too difficult, but I have managed to finish 4 in the last several races. It is not like I am going to lie about my age to beat the over sixty crowd (not that some can and have kicked my ass, another event all together). I just can’t seem to do it. I get motivated at the previous years times, and run my little heart out and finish 4th. Damn, again. I am hoping for the big 40 this August to work in my favor. I thought that maybe putting it on my 43 things would push me over that edge.
