actually i think a better goal is to leave them in random places, ok it’s kind of cheesy but very easy and kind of fun, plus i have a lot of time on my hands anyway.you never know, it might be a source of comfort for someone who finds one of them randomly..ok i know i’m sad but i just think it’s a cool idea.

How I did it: ok, so it took me a long time as many people i didn't really 'click' with- i know it sounds bad but we had nothing to talk about and it just seemed like a chore...however i'd been teaching myself bits of spanish for a while, and i came across this facebook group where people were offering to help others with spanish. i randomly added someone from argentina, and since then i've learnt so much spanish, and about her culture, and also been t… Read how I did it…
How I did it: a friend offered me the guitar, a small but decent amp, guitar strap and a cd on how to play it for £100. needless to say, i was straight in there! and she was grateful for the money so both of us were left happy =D Read how I did it…
i’m not claiming i’m never going to buy things that aren’t fair trade, cos let’s face it, there’s not THAT many fair trade things on the market, but i resolve to spend less money in non-fair trade places like primark, (which ties in with my goal of being less consumeristic) and more on products i know are fair trade. it’s hard with clothes, and unfortnuately i don’t like coffee, so i can’t make a difference there, but since i found out more about fair trade, i’ve decided that when in uni i will try and mainly buy their fair trade juice from now on (JP juices) rather than j20s, which i do like and will have when out, though don’t really NEED any more money, despite being also ethical. coca cola on the other hand, has been found to be a really unethical company (www.coke-justice.org) and while i can’t promise to never purchase their products again, i’ve decided to buy less and spend it on something more ethical like thiswater, which supports the wateraid charity (thiswater.co.uk)
non-food-wise, i’ve started buying more presents from the bodyshop, as they also support fair trade and do very high quality products, albeit a little expensive, but no more than a lot of other brands which simply benefit capitalist agendas. i know which i’d rather give my money too..just remember every little helps- do i really support what this company is doing, and if not, why am i still buying products from them? however, i realise my hypocrisy by the fact i haven’t vowed to give them up for good (coca-cola, primark etc), but hopefully the more aware i am of what’s going on the less and less i and many others will support them until they clean up their act..good luck to everyone w3ith this goal btw, remember YOU ARE POWERFUL TO MAKE POSITIVE CHANGE! =)
i’m ridiculously slow when it comes to reading fiction, yet when it comes to factual books on subjects that appeal to my interests- (e.g documentaries, politics, travelling, philosophy) i can read a 200 page book in 2 days. the same length fictional novel will take me WEEKS.
however, i’m studing english LITERATURE at uni. maybe this is telling me something?! either way, a degree in english lit is quite versatile for a future job (i think..i hope) so with a bit of luck i’ll make it through this degree and obtain good grades, then even if i never pick up another fictional novel again, at least i’ve read some of the ‘classics’ through my course, and it will give the impression i’m articulate..i do plan to read a few more fictional novels, and feel guilty that i read less than a lot of people who DON’t study english lit, but i’ve made my choice degree wise, and i’m capable of completing the course, therefore i plan to complete it to the best of my ability :D
