I gave a speech in front of hundreds of people this year and declared that 2010 was going to be the year that I visit Vietnam for the first time: http://www.pool.org.au/blog/pool_team/sharing_hope …and thankfully I’ve now booked tickets to go to HCMC in December for a week – so I am making good on my promise. Just in time to see the year out! I think I’ll just go to Vietnam as a tourist…and there’s a very good chance that my parents will make the trip back for the first time in February when they come visit me in Thailand. There are gonna be some big, emotional moments coming up in my life.

How I did it: I left Australia in 2005 to go to the UK on a working holiday. I came back a year later feeling more resolved about my next move - to become a psychologist (which incidentally I've since abandoned for various reasons). As soon as I got back to Australia I signed up to train as a volunteer telephone counsellor with Lifeline, an emotional support line. It's something I had had at the back of my mind for many years but didn't feel ready. I'm… Read how I did it…
How I did it: Earlier this year I picked up a flyer advertising acting classes through Darlo Drama and it piqued my interest. I kept the flyer handy and about six months later decided that I should go for it even though it was tough trying to squeeze classes into my already over-crammed life. The aim of the 10 week course is to perform a monologue on the last night in front of family and friends. We did a lot of exercises throughout the first half of th… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I've actually been to two Indian weddings this month but the main event was the one I flew to India for at the beginning of December - the guy getting married was a friend from school that I've known a long time. I have long wanted to go to an Indian wedding, especially after seeing 'Monsoon Wedding', and I knew that I would get the chance one day - as long as he and I stayed good friends! :-) Read how I did it…
