I now have the space to set up a blacksmith shop, and I have a good start on raw materials that were left on the farm when I bought it. I’ve found a source for coal. Now I just need to decide on the location on the property and come up with plans for the structure and forge.

How I did it: I started with a pretty good chicken house that was already on the property we bought. I just needed to get the feed, oyster shell, and water and feed dispensers. The first few chickens were given to me by friends. The latest batch of 27 came from McMurry hatchery. Read how I did it…
How I did it: For years I dreamed of the day when I would own a small ranch where I could raise cows, chickens and other animals. Since I was in High School, I have collected books and pamphlets on raising cows and chickens.Last year, I was able to move to that small ranch, a 40 acre place near Elko Nevada. I now have a Scottish Highland bull named Seamus, a small flock of chickens, several goats and a few dogs and cats.We made friends with a local sma… Read how I did it…
I have the ranch now with the sheep shed and fenced pasture. I just bought two rams this weekend and will be transporting them down in a couple of days.
I think we are set to get started, grass hay ready, bag of feed if needed, bedding material.
Probably need to buy a manger for the hay and an auto water trough. I want to put some electric mesh around the pasture and put up some irrigation around the pasture.
The pasture needs to be expanded to a couple other areas so I can rotate the flock and let the pasture recover.
I now have the ranch which has a 25×30 3-sided cattle shed. The water and power are run to the shed. There is fencing all around the 40 acres as well as corrals & gates around the shed.
Next step I think is to get the hay, salt/minerals, squeeze chute/head gate and build a loading ramp.
