I had a rough upbringing, and if I can keep changing just individual minds in a positive way I’ll be happy.
I am a teacher. I love ALL of my kids.
I’m worried about the world they’re growing up in, and if they’ll be prepared for it.

and I have to get ready for school! New courses, new topics, more exciting curriculum! Yay! Ooh, and best of all – NEW SCHOOL SUPPLIES
The Toxic Avenger (1985)
They Live (1988)
Saw They Live a few months ago I think, and the Toxic Avenger last week. Only a few more to go. Hopefully I’ll have the list done by the end of summer.
This is my last unpaid summer vacation as a teacher. It’s been two days of official vacation and I’ve done the following:
*washed all linens and laundry. I mean even the duvet!
*vaccumed and washed the floors
*opened online store, documented stock
*planted garden: okay, I did this earlier, but now the peas, brussel sprouts, potatoes, tomatoes, zucchinis, pumpkins, squash, celery, sunflowers, lettuce, basil, dill, rosemary, chives and oregano are up and I’ve already feasted on some strawberries! YUMMM!
*Booked three clients for tattoing, received new ink in the mail.
*Broke into my pile of “save for summer books”
*Brought home curriculum material to work on during the summer, partially organized and put in appropriate spots.
*set up my studio, again
*Booked 3 facepainting gigs. (Silly paid fun)
*tuned up my airbrush and compressor
*borrowed a bicycle for the summer/fall
*found gallery representation
*got leads on 5 locations for week long classes that I’m offering.
*fixed the dress I’m wearing in this pic for the webstore.
I should be some sort of Super Hero!

Only a few days and I’ve already made a sale! I advise this to any crafty chica!
BUT THIS WILL BE THE MOST CONSTRUCTIVE SUMMER YET! I’ve already go the garden prepped, and it’s only May!
How exciting. I’m just getting ready to set up shop on etsy with my hats, fascinators, pasties, tassles, costumes, jewelry and automotive illustrations. SOOOO EXCITING!!!
We’ll see how it goes. I’ve got a bit of a circus hopefully set up for August. We’re travelling the maritime provinces with Poi dances, a juggler, hula-hoopers, belly dancers and burlesque acts.
I live 30 minutes outside a small city and I don’t drive. Also, there’s really no place in town set up for this. It’s just not going to happen. I still enjoy skating up and down my road in my skates though.
I may not have read them all, but I certainly took inventory and noted the ones I had not read and organized them into a chronological future reading order. Exciting! It’s easy with Librarything and my Cuecat scanner!
But the good news is I started journaling again. It’s better, actually, and no one needs to read it anyhow.
So, I’m admitting it to myself. Aside from signing Kareoke at staff parties I’m probably not going to be belting out any tunes any time soon. Carey (my fiance) is a musician, and I had hoped that possibly we could work out a couple of duets, but I can see it’s just not going to happen. Anyhow, I have done it before, and maybe I’ll do it again someday, but it’s just not a current goal anymore.
Okay, so my fiance plays guitar and bass really well. Unfortunately there is no bass in the house and I have a million of things that are higher up on the Want to Do list. Between teaching, tattooing, illustrating, millinery, costuming, jewelry and my web-store, not to mention my gorgeous accordians I can barely play, and the dance and spanish lessons, I have to drop this one for a while. Maybe when I retire.
I’m happy I have the summer off! (teacher) I can spend more time this year learning spanish with my podcasts, yay!
I picked up instructional videos for many new dance forms as I live rurally and dance classes aren’t really an option. I have an extensive dance background and have found some very informative and technical DVDs on Flamenco, Hula, Bellydance and Tap. Hooray to eBay!
My goodness I read a lot. Here and there. I’m constantly reading stuff to help me at work, plus I’ll read anything informative. I don’t know how many I read, but it was definitely more than 55. Now I’m busy cataloguing my books in Librarything.com. Yay!
