I just made an online tool for doing this, called LibraryThing (http://www.librarything.com). It uses the Library of Congress database, so it’s pretty comprehensive. Check it out and tell me what you think?

That said, I’ve only got about 1/5 of my books in so far…

I’ve wanted to do this for years. I tried it in Filemaker once, doing everything by hand. This was pre-web. Recently I made an online application to do it, http://www.librarything.com. Strangely, no one else had done that, although there are dozens of stand-alone software products. These products, however, all use Amazon’s database. Amazon’s great, of course, but half my books are out of print and a substantial portion of them are in funny languages. Amazon just wouldn’t do.

Anyway, programming was the hard part, but I still need to put them in.
