thailand is lovely – it has a laidback pace that is not dissimilar to country australia but is nicer and somehow more cosmopolitan. make sure you see more than Bangkok (i would assert that Bangkok is not much of a reflection of Thailand in general) and go to the north if you can. the mountains are incredible and the people are sweet. Chiang Mai is a must, as is the royal project if you can make it that far.

i’ve done enough Tai Chi to know it’s phenomenal and not enough to be anywhwere near competent. I’d recommend to absolutely anyone on the proviso that you MUST find a teacher who’s coming from the right intention and who knows his/her stuff. Also it’s fun to do it with friends if you can – especially push-hands.
i finally have the dreads i’ve always wanted and i’m thrilled. they’re a week and a half old and they’re looking fairly messy. initially they were really tight (they were done by backcombing and crochet-needling, no product) but after some time and 2 washes (i have a job and a small amount of dignity left) there are more rogue hairs than i’d like making breaks for freedom all over my head. all my internet research says give them 4 weeks though, so fingers cross and scarves on for work…
