This is how I started being on time. I make a mental list of things I have to do during the day while I’m still in bed. If I have to be somewhere later that day, I start getting ready right then, even if it is hours before I have to go. I go ahead and pick out my clothes and get my kids clothes, get them bathed as well as myself and do a little bit at a time throughout the day. If I need to be somewhere early, I’ll pack up my makeup and a hair brush and get ready in the car (not while driving of course). I’ll also wear something I can just slip on without ironing. I leave the last 30 minutes for getting the kids in the car, running back inside for a forgotten cell phone or keys, and stopping to grab something along the way. So, if it takes you 1 hour to get yourself ready, allow an extra 30 minutes just for getting out the door.

I always think, I’ll call when I get home, or I don’t have his or her cell phone number here, it’s at work. It’s not the remembering, it’s the calling I put off. I do care, though, I really do.
