I got into the University of Chicago and accepted about 24 hours later. I’m so excited, I can’t even begin to describe it. Now all I have to do is decide if it’s worth it to fill out the FAFSA or not (it’s pretty much certain that I’m not going to get any financial aid…)

The lease on our Suburban (which my mom drives around town by herself all day) expires soon, and we’re thinking of getting a Tahoe hybrid, or something along those lines. I won’t be getting a new car for at least four years because I’m going to college in the city, where there is no room for a car and my brother will be driving the car I have now (really scary thought…my brother driving? the car might not last long.) So until I’m living on my own, I won’t be able to personally own a hybrid, but at least my mom will be driving one instead of the Suburban.
