We’ve been really good so far, we’ve just got to make MORE headway. All light in the house are CFLs, we make the most of natural light, we recycle, carry our own reusable shoppin bags & put in a pellet stove for heating. Within the year with we will purchase a new hybrid vehicle, switch to a once a week meatless day & buy a smaller home.

but it’s a place where our books sit nicely on shelves and we can sit in a comfortable space and “be there”.

My best friend moves back and forth between Spanish & English so smoothly and she is so patient with my ok accent. I’d really like to be able to know more than how to order a meal.

My high school history teacher took a group of us to two full seasons of the New Orleans Opera. There we were, this group of silly girls calling ourselves the Culture Club. Man sometimes I miss the 80s!

there’s nothing more beautiful when you find that “right one” except when you realize how much you love yourself.

I self-published a ‘zine a few years ago. I really enjoyed walking up and down Capitol Hill (Seattle) distributing my work and getting a little feedback evey now-and-then. There’s such a rush seeing your name on a shelf somewhere near the Baldwins, Durases, Faulkners & Aneglous.

I had everything planned for a wedding in New Orleans, the city where I was born. The date was May 27, 2006 and we were having a grand party at Popp Fountain in City Park among the live oaks and spanish moss. All of that changed August 2005! Now our family and friends are joining us on a cruise to the Bahamas.
I applied for my first passport last month. I now feel like I need to go somewhere with it. What’s even cooler…my mom applied for the first time in her life. It’s an awesome feeling!!

When I graduated from High school way back in the eighties, I had dreams of going to Italy and visiting the ruins of Pompeii (birthplace of pornography), seeing Venice, Tuscany and Rome. In order to prepare myself for that inevitable trip abroad I purchased “Teach Yourself Italian” on cassettes. I learned to ask directions, get a room in a hotel (camera con doccia), ask for the train station (stazione ferroviario) was and ask for a stamp (francobollo). I was ready to go!
Well, that was 19 years ago and I have not yet made it to Italy. I’m still making those plans! I’ve not had one solitary bowl of soup in a little ristorante! Although, when I do get there, I’m sitting down at a table in a little restaurant, wait for a waiter and in my best attempt at an italian accent I’ll say: Vorrei del vino rosso, per favore.

So much is happening in my life these days. The one thing I know is that I have learned to love life to it’s fullest. Last year bought destruction, change and chaos (or so I first thought), now I know it also bought perspective. Each day I have with my family and friends are days I aim to celebrate.
So to my family and my friends…CHEERS!!!
