I had gotten several quotes on landscaping my yard. After several months of hand-wringing, I have decided to make a go of this on my own. I have spent some money on books and attended some classes on landscape design. I also bought a few hundred $ worth of plants and am still working on getting them all in the ground.
When it is all done, I don’t want to have to have a service maintaining the yard either. I want to control what/how much chemicals are used on my yard. I am also finding it a bit relaxing.
It will not likely win any landscaping design competitions but I am liking the process.

The majority of my leather work recently had been for a guy who was making motorcycle tank bibs. Well, he decided to shut down his business and retire this week so I will not have any more pieces coming from him. Sad – as this was a consistent source of work. Good – in this will give me more time to do some of the art pieces I have been thinking about.

The challenge for October was to make an item and then color it. I was using my leather dies on this. The yellow was very light but looked good. Then I decided to add some “light blue” and the piece went DARK blue – navy almost. I had to sand the center back and kept working with solvents to try fading the center. In the end I and ok with this.
BTW this is an Ikebana vase and about 8” diameter and 3” tall.
