Why is this so hard?

My circadian rhythms are off… way off. I can’t seem to get to sleep before 2am, no matter what I try to do. I would love to be a morning person… to get up before 6am without trouble, or be able to wake naturally before 7am. I think it would help my productivity at work, my timeliness (I’m known among my family and co-workers for being late), and my overall outlook on life. So why is this so difficult? I’ve read that it takes months to really change your circadian rhythms, but what do you do when you can’t even make the change for two nights in a row?
