In first week of June we left Oslo with temperatures of 30C and took 3 hour train ride to Myrdal through snow capped mountains. Once of the Trains stops was Finse which is highest point on the railroad at 1222m, the train stops here for 5 minutes. In Myrdal it is worth crossing the train tracks and walking down to the river. Then for the 1 hour trip on Flam railroad, through truly stunning scenery. Once in Flam found it worthwhile to stay on and do some of the recommended hikes to the waterfall etc. to truly experience the place. Some people go on a tour straight onto Bergen but the scenery is so spectacular I found it better to take in a bit at time if you have the time.
