I have a goat, but I have never met her. She was given to me as a wedding gift by my husband’s parents. Her name is Limau; Swahili for lime. She prefers those leaves the best, I guess! Hopefully I make it back to Tanzania before Limau kicks the bucket.

How I did it: My husband came to the US on a fiance visa, which meant that we had to get married within 90 days of his arrival. Getting married is actually pretty simple: find a civil officiant, apply for a marriage license, get some witnesses, pay the fees, and hooray, you're married! We had planned on having a real wedding at some point, but since everyone already knew we were married and I didn't feel like spending thousands of dollars, we have… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I VERY loosely followed Hal Higdon's intermediate 1 training plan. Prior to starting training, I had run a half marathon, but I started with a long run of 8 miles. I topped out with a long run of 19.5. Basically, I did not log nearly as many miles as I should have, but I was still able to come pretty close to my goal time in the marathon (finished at 4:38, hoped for 4:30). I ran the Lakefront Marathon in Milwaukee.… Read how I did it…
I’ve got a ways to go. I ran my first marathon in 4:38, which means that I have an hour to take off of my time. Ha! Baby steps. :) My first goal is sub-4:00, which I think I can manage by the time my next marathon rolls around (Grandma’s Marathon in June). I didn’t really train well for my first marathon, so I think that if I can stick to 50 mile weeks and lose a little bit of weight, I should be golden for Grandma’s. Then it’ll just be fine-tuning. Hoping by 2011, I’ll be able to qualify.
My husband and I got married in August of 2007, but we haven’t gone on our honeymoon yet! The first year we had no money, and they second year I had just switched jobs and couldn’t use vacation time yet. The plan is to go to the Dominican Republic in January or February of 2010. If we don’t, someone please kick out butts!
