Had a chance to surf this week! I’ve been sort of snobbish and have mainly been paddle boarding. I don’t want to get rusty at surfing though, so my husband and I went out, and I’m happy to say that I still have it! I surfed some great waves (even a few that were a little steeper), but I still need to get up faster, I’m a little too slow and that’s what’s messing me up at times. We are probably going tomorrow :D

I got to go paddling! Most recently this week, my husband and took out both of our paddle boards and launched from one beach and paddled 2 miles to another beach. We paddled into a hotel area where there’s a sand bottom, and the water is shallow, and took a luxurious dip! We sun bathed on our boards for awhile, just relaxing under the sun and paddled back when we were finished. It was an amazing time :D
The previous time however was not so relaxing as there were big waves! I had a blast surfing the swells, but my feet and legs got all cut up when I smashed into the rocks after riding a fairly strong wave. I dented my board, but I saved it from getting more destroyed!

I remember going to HUGE water park in Texas with my parents! I still recall having a fun time (and having a strange lady tell me that I must have a twin running around because she could swear that she knew me)! There’s a water park that’s only a short plane ride away, and my husband and I really, really want to go sometime! I have no doubt that we will someday :D

Have I been to Big Bear, and that was in 2001. So much has changed since that time, and my husband really wants to check it out! I think we’d make it a very special memory being there together :D We are planning to check it out this winter and take a snow boarding lesson! We’re quite excited :D

My husband and I used to hike A LOT in the past (before we discovered surfing) and I always loved it! There’s something spectacular about being amidst nature, and through the virtual silence, picking up on those peculiar sounds of foreign bugs or the sudden spark of singing birds. The experience has a way of heightening one’s senses, and forcing us to get in touch with something bigger and more ancient than the modern society most of us exist in. Recently, my husband and I went on several hiking excursions and I’m in love with the freedom of it all!

My husband and I checked out a volcano recently and had so much fun! There was no lava flowing, but we did get to take a 7 mile hike all around the park to see the sights. It was well worth the effort!!

This past week, my husband had an idea to hike to a secluded beach. He and I set off on a 2 mile hike in the middle of nowhere and initially came upon a brackish water pond.

We were almost going to swim in it, but the orange colored rocks were a bit of a concern! We continued hiking until we arrived at our destination!

There was not one soul around on the beach which stretched out for miles and miles! We picked our spot, set the towels down and just relaxed together under the glorious sun. When we were ready, we took a swim in the water and had a blast playing around! I loved the seclusion of it all, it was a lovely escape—especially being with the one I love most :D

From this past Sunday went really well although it was exhausting (I started at 5:30AM and didn’t finish until 5:00PM). I am still waiting on the official images (everything will be finished in September). Overall, it was a very positive experience and I believe as long as you have a great, flexible attitude and don’t take anything personal, modeling can be an extraordinarily fun thing to do! I will update once the latest pictures arrive :D The one below is just one I snapped of myself once the day was over. I figured I’d better capture a shot of the glam makeup since I’ll never be able to apply it like that on my own!

I love how he always makes a huge effort to ensure that celebrations are so special! He devoted an entire week to my birthday and our wedding anniversary doing things that I wanted to do ♥

I am now 30 years old! I had a lovely, quiet celebration with my dear husband and we devoted the entire week to doing things I wanted to do :D In the process we went on hikes, surfed to our hearts’ content, dined on sushi, went on a shopping spree, and even went to a completely secluded beach where we could just relax together! I get to round out the week with a final dinner where my close in-laws will join us as we eat, what else? Sushi! The funny part? On 2 separate occasions, I was told by complete strangers that I didn’t look anywhere near my new age of 30 :D It doesn’t really matter, but it’s a sweet bonus nonetheless… This decade is off to a great start!

And to be quite honest, I am thrilled about it! Physically I feel like I’m in my early 20’s, but mentally, I am happy to embrace my chronological age :D

Since I am going to be off on my actual birthday, my co-workers surprised me today with a big, chocolate cake (with my name written on it), a funny card and a girly, totally “me” planner :D The fact that they thought about me and celebrated my soon to be birthday was so special to me! My neighbor and good friend sent beautiful, pink roses to my office as well! I feel so blessed to be surrounded by people who care ♥
