I’m closing in on 25,000 words – a bit late – and am going to press ahead, although I’m finding it hard to know what actually happens next to my main character – waiting for that flash of inspiration which has me typing like mad on my computer.

How I did it: I still have a fair bit to do in terms of learning Wordpress and how to fully integrate it into my website, but have been able to get so far by comparing my site to the 'classic' theme that comes with Wordpress. Part of the battle is being able to understand how the stylesheet is put together - i.e. where the different <div> tags determine the location of different elements within the page. It's also about learning the way in which … Read how I did it…
How I did it: I decided that the area of my life I would pick out would be football and the way supporting my team has been a big part of my life so far. I chose to do my talk on a particular game which was something of a tipping point for my club, in particular 10 minutes of so in which we went 2-0 down but fought back to draw 2-2. Read how I did it…
How I did it: In the same way that I left my previous job, starting out as a self-employed web consultant was a decision, and didn't take time or money in itself. The real trick is to maintain that business and getting clients will be a challenge for all sorts of reasons. I am determined and believe that this will work for our good. Read how I did it…

...but I’m going to have a go. Would it be like going from couch potato to running a marathon in one? I hope not. I’m just not sure what to write about yet…
Sometimes I feel sorry that I don’t have anyone close to me who appreciates classical music the way I do. I wonder if it is anything to do with the way that classical music tends to be treated as a kind of pleasant ‘muzak’ which isn’t meant to be listened to closely. Also the ‘Relaxing Classics’ type CDs don’t help, and I was slightly annoyed by the description by Classic FM of themselves as ‘the relaxation station’. Try Shostakovich’s 8th Symphony – definitely not relaxing… but wonderful!
