How I did it: Whenever I move (which has been often in the past few years), I always fall into the suitcase-that-threw-up trap, in that I'll live out of my suitcase/backpack for as long as I can stand and then spend one intense night with my music playing organizing my closet. How I did it: I was living in Korea at the time of my move, so I used word of mouth to find out about an apartment building that was willing to rent to foreigners. After that, I asked my Korean friend to help me converse with the landlord and he greatly reduced my deposit fee (which in Korea is typically about $10,000--crazy, I know). And then....I moved in.
