I definitely just ran 10 miles yesterday training for my October half marathon. Maybe I shouldn’t bother racing the 10 mile distance—without pushing myself I managed a 1:30:41 time and felt like I could keep going. I really only started to feel good around the 5 mile mark after I started to pick up the pace a bit. I think I’ll leave this goal on here in case I find a 10-miler race in the next few weeks, but if not I’ll probably cover the half marathon first, haha.

How I did it: I did it once on my own, and once with my boyfriend. I went up to New England with my boyfriend and for my own, I mostly just had fun heading down to VA. What stuck me most was how weird it was to not really see much other than the states changing-- going 100 miles on the same high way does not give you much to look at except when near the cities. Still, I'm glad I got to try it. Read how I did it…
How I did it: Most campuses in my state give it out for free. The Merck reminder emails told me when to make appointments, so I showed up and got stabbed. I even got a lollypop out of the deal. Planned parenthoods will give it out at a discount, but when I tried that method I found that it was a lot more difficult than I thought it would be (they are hard to make well timed appointments with, and hard to reach if you're carless on a campus without a pl… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I ended up getting a 5 gallon tank for my birthday. It's one of those fancy hexagonal tanks and came with a filter and a light. Over the next month or so I picked up gravel, some fake plants, a tiny castle, water test strips, dechlorinating stuff, some fish flakes and some daphnia. I set up my tank and let it run for a week. I FINALLY made it to the pet store and picked out a feeder fish-- he had a black spot on his dorsal fin so I named … Read how I did it…

I read The Diamond Age before finals and I think I’m hooked. A friend gave me her copies of all three books, and I’m finally starting summer break. I guess if I’m gonna do it, now’s the time. Though, I’ll admit I’m a little hesitant given the length. I’m sure they’ll be amazing though.
