A dream that I’ve had floating around my head for many, many years is to open my own bookshop. My Mum owned one for a few years before I was born. For me I’d like a nice old building on, or just off of, a busy street with lots of foot traffic. A cozy little affair with a small cafe inside (a suitable business partner or someone willing to rent space off of me would be ideal here), lots of overstuffed chairs and couches, floor to ceiling bookshelves, lots of big windows to let in the light and the slight scent of white sage incense. It would be new and used of course, but specialise in esoteric or “Pagan-esque” books. Oh, and a sizable room out back for hosting workshops, tarot readings and other gatherings. An online presence would be essential as I know this particular market isn’t exactly going to make me millions. sigh

Ever since I can remember I’ve hated living in Australia. Sure it’s pretty in places and it has other good points, but I die a horrible, sticky death every summer! In my perfect little ME/CFS free imaginary world I would finish my degree, work for a year or so as a Librarian here, then find a job and move to the UK. Somewhere north where it’s nice and cold and peaceful. Of course, my planned tour of the UK will also be doubling as a kind of inspection to see whether my hopes are idealic or right on the money. In the meantime, I still dream, and plot, and dream some more.

I don’t know any deaf people and never have, but I’m still very interested in learning this language. I’ve been wanting to learn Auslan since my first introductory lectures to my education degree 3 years ago. Even though I’m not longer studying teaching, I think knowing at least some Auslan would be an asset in any career path.

I’m detirmined to get to travel through the UK with my cousin in late ‘09. A coach tour probably – you won’t catch me backpacking again. Two or three weeks would be about all I could handle. I’m dying to get to Glastonbury and Edinburgh and just see as much as I can see of those wonderful islands.

I want to start, do and finish my DE Bachelor of Arts (Media and Information) Librarianship Major. I’m planning to study part time, which will take me about 6 years, but hope to get some elective credit for the units I completed in my abandoned Bachelor of Teaching. I hope to at least complete one semester at a full time course load, but am not holding my breath.

Wanting to loss weight and being on a healtheir diet is all well and good, but exercise is essential to getting rid of the flab. The hard part is that with my ME/CFS, even small amounts of exercise (ie an hour of grocery shopping) can cause a crash or leave me house bound for the next few days or so. But I want to try and come up with a semi-regular, low impact routine. Classes and gym memberships are useless – I’ve already been down that road before and it’s rather costly. So this “thing” may take some more pondering than the others. I’m not even contemplating touring the UK at my current fitness level.

Following an appointment with a Natropath, it finally clicked that my previous existance on mostly carbs and dairy wasn’t doing me any favours. I’m now attempting a high protein, high fibre and low fat diet to help with the symptoms of my ME/CFS. Less sugar and preservatives and more fruit and veg. I’m also trying to eat more. The last year or so has seen my apetite evaporate into several small snack type meals during the day – no breakfast or lunch and only the occasional dinner. I’ve been on this wagon for a little over a week, and although I still feel sick whenever I eat, I know I’m doing the right thing for my body.

I’m getting my wisdom teeth extracted in May and am planning a tour of the UK in ‘09. The surgery will be around $1400 and I’m aiming for $8,000 to $10,000 to get me to the UK. I’ve saved $750 towards my teeth and have still got 2 months or so to save the rest. I’m getting an increase in my disability benefits in late February, so this particular “thing” should be do-able.

Weight Loss
According to the BMI, I’m now overweight. I’ve gained 10 kg’s in the past year or so. I’m 70 kg’s and want to get back down to the mid to low 60’s. My new diet and future exercise plans should help in that department.

I want to get my series of children’s picture books (or at least one of them) published. I have two completed manuscripts doing the rounds, one that has already been rejected and needs to be sent out again.
