How I did it: Sadly, it helped that I got a new job and stopped putting money into my retirement account for most of this year. It seemed like a better investment to pay down the cards with the way the economy is going. I also didn't do any traveling for fun in 2008. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I didn't make them for everyone--I have an Excel spreadsheet of 71 people to get Christmas gifts for and not everyone is into candles. I made them for some friends and some family members. I didn't realize how much wax I had; I'm going to continue to make them for birthday presents throughout the year. Read how I did it…
How I did it: Alternating top and bottom teeth each night so it doesn't seem like quite as much of a chore. Wow, this 150 character minimum is hard to get to. Um, I used dental floss. Read how I did it…

I’m still working more than I’m supposed to and hiding it. This seems like a lot, but at the job I left recently I worked 70+ hour weeks on a regular basis.
I know how goofy it sounds to limit my volunteer work, but it pretty much consumes my personal life. I’m trying to get down to one board and one commission and call it good. I just finished a two-year term on a startup nonprofit that required far more of my attention than I had anticipated. I’ll still be volunteering for it and other worthy organizations, but three hours a week seems like a good balance.
I’m thinking when February comes around I’ll be getting close to meeting this goal.
