Explore more of other cultures
2008 report list on this foal 11 months ago

I am still doing this as it’s an ongoing task.

This year, through my private trips and trips for work I visited the following towns and contries

Athens, the island of Thassos – GreeceAmsterdam – Netherlands (fairy tale citty, 80% of the people seem to think they are relative of Merry Poppins and no curtains combined with the freedom of thought there I think accounts for less bills from the shrink)
Leipzig – Germany (there is always something comforting in the order in Germany when you are tired of the opposite but then it’s terribly sad and empty when you get to look closely into it…)
Newcastle, Brighton, London – UK (simply very english and the north)
Millan – Itally (amazing personal experience with the Labyrinth and the only complete surrender to the culture as far as I could)
Barcelona – Spain (a bit disappointed when I got there as I have been dreaming about it for years and it did not exactly made my head dizzy, but I learnt a lot interesting facts and stories, and also learnt that the things I know less about and the things I do not expect and did read 10 encyclopedias about before I get somewehere are the things that fascinate me the most. Having come back home I get return in my memories with a warm feeling of joy and freedom, after all.)
Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Sukhothai, the islands of Phuket and Similan – Thailand. (amazing, the most gentle people on earth, the presence of buddhism in their every daily life and understandings was fascinating, their smiles, the nature – I can’t possibly put everythin in few words, just go and see it.)

It was quite of an year for travelling. Often, there was not enough time to absord everything before moving on, but I did get to explore or at least touch other cultures.

Take a trip every year
Open your senses 17 months ago

Open your mind and your senses and travel. Don’t worry about anything but how you feel, what you see, and the curiosity of the moment and about the places. Find locals, if you can, talk to them, try the everyday life, that’s what travel is all about – expanding your horizons. And most importantly – do not read tons of encyclopedia before you travel otherwise when you get there you worry too much about seeing what you read and it might not be like you imagined it and while you are searching for it in fear you can miss it, while something much more precious going on at the moment is definitely lost.
Enjoy yourself :)

get a digital camera
More pictures, but beware the less focus 17 months ago

It is great, BUT you might get trapped by knowing you can do tons of shots. I am bad at deleting. so, it is not so easy to end up with 4 GB of photos from your trip and choose the 50-60 of them that are cool and would have remainded if I was using film.
And another thing, one gets spoiled to make 1000 clicks, rather than focus on thinking of what exactly you want to shoot, how to shoot it and its meaning.
so, buy a digital camera, but stay focused, imagine it is like the old ones with film – only the precious shots need so much attention, but they need your full atention, no just random cliking because you can.
I use a Cannon S5IS – increadible amount of features and quality for the price.
