I’ve been cooking all summer! Most of the recipes I’ve made have turned out good and I can tell that I’m getting better because I”m starting to “wing it” more and the things I’ve done that with have turned out to be delicious! I guess I’m getting better!! I’ve got to get to the point where I feel confident enough to do my vegan barbeque I’m planning for this summer!

How I did it: Red meat and seafood have almost always been my favorite foods. But on (I remember the date) November 26th 2008, I was walking in the administration building of my college at 11pm and I passed by the bulletin board for the Students for Environmental Action Club. I stopped to look at the designs on the board because I wasnt in a rush to be anywhere but to bed and a particular corner caught my attention that was labeled "30 R… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I went to www.themonastery.org and clicked "free online ordinations." In the Universal Life Church, they believe that we all have the potential and abilities to be ministers. An ordained minister with this church has all legal rights of a minister without any study and they even send you your official certificate. This is great if you want to personalize your wedding and have a friend to be the minister as your wedding. It's very easy, an… Read how I did it…
How I did it: This was a test to see if I could be hired as an A&F store model even though I didnt own any clothes from there. I was so flattered (and I got hired nowhere else) that I worked there for the summer. I booked an interview at the computer they had in the store first. Then I looked online to see what was the latest fashion at A&F and went to the A&F store at the other mall to purchase an outfit... which was much more expensive th… Read how I did it…

I’ve been going to the ISKCON temple every two weeks since summer started. Its hard to go every week because it’s expensive on gas. I miss it though… At the end of last semester I was going twice a week so I feel like I’m going through withdrawals!
I cooked a lot on Saturday and played around with a few recipes. I want to get really good… but I know that a few of the thing I try won’t turn out well along the way. I made carrot soup, which I didn’t like much… but I think it’s because I just don’t like carrot soup. I also made onion soup, which was delicious! It probably wasn’t very nutritious though. I’d like to try to make the spinach soup my mom has made before. It’s my favorite. I’ve successfully baked vegan brownies and apple strudel. The brownies were a hit and apple strudel could have been a little better because I lost count of how many pieces of phyllo dough I was using so I miscounted, haha. I’ve steamed up some asparagus and mushrooms which turned out nicely. And I whipped up some black bean burgers that were absolutely delicious. I can of course make pasta, and I like to fry tempeh in balsamic vinaigrette then stick it in my pasta sauce. A breakfast favorite is banana french toast. I’d like to try some more challenging dishes like vegan lasagna. I’m curious to try tofu scramble, vegetable pot pie, buckwheat pancakes, vegan lasagna, sweet potato soup, tempeh bacon BLTs, Caribbean Beans and Quinoa, Bean and Vegetable Soup… just to name a few. ;)
I’m excited! I still have performance anxiety though. I think I still only feel comfortable cooking for my family. I know they’ll tell me the truth.
