A couple days after classes ended in May, we headed out for seven days at the Redwoods at Yosemite, in “Edna’s Heart’s Desire” cabin. Hiked a bunch of trails, read a bunch of lovely books, and re acclimated to real life. And trees. It was absolutely lovely.

I just got back from the Decatur Book Festival, where I presented on a panel called “The Sequence in Prose and Poetry.” I read and answered questions, and sold three or four books, and it all went swimmingly. “How to Tame a Lion” really works so well at the end of the reading. Still reading “The Devil’s Face” most every reading, but I sort of cringe my way through it. When I read every other story, I look out at the crowd—but I can’t do that with the Devil. Will have to work on it…
So far I’ve been asked to read at SDSU again (for the Living Writer’s Series), and hopefully at the Henry Miller Library (hurray!) in October. Really looking forward to that!
