Monday 1 day ago
  1. son trying and liking sushi
  2. house being moderately clean and neat
  3. daughter super excited about going to the beach
  4. having sushi, and pad thai, and shishkabobs the past few days after not eating out in a long while
  5. finding a possible way to refinance which is much more affordable than what we’d seen so far
  6. TTC’s Literary Modernism course, and its surprising content. I am still reeling from it, and will have to listen to it again after my brain has settled down again
  7. big one: the autumn ash tree in the backyard finally put leaves out this year. I had had the horrible impression that it had died, and was hoping and praying otherwise. I love trees, I love that tree, and it’s one of the few plants that has kept trucking under my apparently horrible gardening management. I was extremely relieved to see it revive.

maybe I shall make find a little kodama) figure to take care of it.

my mind, ideas, are not at all coherent right now 4 days ago

so this will probably make more sense than usual. ;)

just what is on my mind: this still, and how to reconcile the polarities that make up my reality, my existence, my self.

in that last post, I had the image of me connected to the world not directly but via other people: I was connected to other people, and they were connected to the world. as I told DanT1999 later, maybe the problem (or part of it) is that I have no direct connection to the world myself.

I wonder if that’s even true, and, if it is, what it means and what I should do about it.

maybe the problem is that I see other people as being the world, or that I see myself in all those other people, and don’t want to lose connection with that.

Thursday and Friday July 3 &4 4 days ago

Thursday

  1. taking a long walk with the dog while listening to (and understanding, yay!) Russian.
  2. daughter in the bathtub, holding the showerhead up to her ear it was off, thank you, saying, “Hi. Hello.”, and then giggling hysterically.
  3. soon after my bath, I got out to find a most unappealing mess in daughter’s room. I was trying to clean her off, and she didn’t want me too, and it was getting all over me and the bathroom, in addition to her and her room. I was very cross with her, and slammed the package of wipes down on the counter. my son was in the backyard outside the window and heard it; it sounded like a slap. he immediately yelled, “Mom, no! Don’t hit (her)! That’s not nice!
Say you’re sorry!” It just made me so proud of him for standing up for her and protecting her though I had just slammed something down, even though he was completely put out with her at the time too. he’s grown into such a nurturing and responsible guy.
  4. husband bringing home two huge containers of the most wonderful tabouli, and letting me have one all to myself. :D

Friday

  1. son has been saving up for five weeks to buy a Leapster today. he was so excited this morning which is why husband actually bought it yesterday, so we could give it to him when he woke us up at 5:30 wanting to go to Target – it’s nice to start the day that thrilled.
  2. daughter has been using the computer again. she hadn’t for months, so I moved it to a different part of the living room, and now she is interested again. also, she has had no trouble whatsoever wearing her seat belt in the car since school has been out.
  3. having my own room as a retreat where I can lie down and read or cover my head with the pillow and pretend to disappear. much easier to do there than on the couch.
  4. many emails and messages over the last several days from friends and schnoosels. :D
  5. the weather being rather nice, especially in the evenings.
